In less than five words, my review goes something like this:
You need this book.
Ok, so you probably know that Gale and I teach together regularly, and I’m pals with the book’s two other co-authors Kirsten and MaryLou, too (I like to surround myself with smart, talented people!), so you might think there is no way I can give an unbiased review of Drop-Dead Easy Knits. I’m going to be honest with you, people.
The patterns are insta-classics!
The quality and timelessness of the patterns reminds me of some of my favorite knitting books: Weekend Knitting and Last Minute Knitted Gifts come to mind. Books I turn to again and again, not only for the great patterns, but because the books themselves are beautiful.
That’s the deal with Drop-Dead Easy Knits: wearable patterns you can knit while slightly distracted by 
friends or food or wine or movies…what the Mason-Dixon duo have dubbed #knittingbelowonesSkillLevel, with brilliant warnings when you have to pay attention. Gale shot the gorgeous images, and the writing is funny, smart, and just plain companionable. Which makes sense. The book idea grew out of conversation when the authors were hanging out together, well, knitting!

I can’t wait to get my hands on this book! (although, I am sort of waiting because I’d love to win it!) Then again, I could buy it now and then if I win it I could give away the extra copy of my blog . . . hmmmmm. Anyway, I love the Camurac Cardigan, the Lucy and Ethel Cowl, and the Sharline Boot Toppers.
All the patterns are beautiful but since I have to pick only three hey would be….Glama Wrap, Lucy and Ethel Cowl and Westerloe Dog Sweater (love, love!). Thanks for the chance to win this fabulous book.
Glama Wrap, Bear in the Bunny Suit, and Galworthy Gift Bag would be the first three I want to make but the Maplewood Pillow is fabulous and the Star-Eyed Julep Throw and the Keynote Pullover are fighting to be among the top three. I have the yarn for all of them already. Just need to finish a wrap for a friend and I’ll be all over these.
Love the Camurac Cardigan and I’ve been looking for a simple pattern to make for the fall. The Lucky and Ethe cowl looks fun. Then it’s a toss up between the Kiawah and the Keynote!

Ok so: Star-eyed Julep throw, Short beach shawl, keynote pullover…terrified but also most interested in the pullover–I’ve never knit anything less rectangular than cowls or caps…sweaters?! Eek. But maybe I can hack it? I did make me a dress or two that I’ve loved, so why can’t I knit things I don’t yet know how to knit, eh?
