I had a blast writing yesterday's post. As I told Scout, I was on a rhetorical high while writing. Here's a little background. I asked Scout if she could dye a yarn that would evoke the gold, silver, and bronze Olympic medals. The result wowed me, and I was psyched when she said she was going to make a limited-edition run of the yarn. More than half of the skeins sold in under 24 hours, so if you're thinking about getting one (I tweeted that we should have an Olympic Medals KAL after the closing ceremonies…let me know if you buy a skein and want to join me), hop on over there!
Did you watch the Olympic Opening Ceremonies? I enjoyed the program immensely. I'd be hard pressed to say what was my favorite part. The touching tributes to Nodor Kumaritashvili, the amazing welcoming first nations dances, the whales, the fiddlers and tappers, KD Lang's rendition of what must be the most beautiful song ever written, Shane Koyczan's "We Are More", the fire and ice outdoor Olympic cauldron. Over and over, I had chills.
What did you enjoy? What events are you most looking forward to watching?
I was so happy to see the East Coast represented with fiddlers and dancers. That made me super happy. I was also thrilled with the flag bearer choices, especially Romeo Dallaire.
I thought the ceremonies were beautiful.
I’m afraid I fell asleep during the beginning of the ceremonies…then woke up to the countries marching in…however was ready for bed by the L’s. USA takes forever to get to…can’t we go by A for America?
I enjoy all the skating bits…speed, short track, ice, ice dancing. Moguls were fun tonight. Winter Olympics are fun overall.
It’s so odd, but I rarely watch the opening ceremonies. I get bored a few countries into the parade of athletes. The sad part if that I didn’t even know the Olympics were starting this weekend!
I loved the whales – they did an amazing job!
Love the yarn and I’m glad to see that more than half of it sold so quickly! ;o)
CURLING!!!!!!
You made me buy yarn! OK, so you didn’t exactly “make me” but you waved it in front of me and I fell down for those winning colors.
I enjoy the fact that the opening ceremonies are safely recorded on my TiVo, as I was: experiencing the King Tut exhibit with my son and hubby; eating sushi with family and friends in Japantown; walking the labyrinth at Grace Cathedral in San Francisco by candlelight with acoustic guitar playing gently in the back ground; driving across the Golden Gate Bridge instead of watching TV.
I very much look forward to watching the opening ceremonies later!
