Fo and UFOs, now WIPs

Kims_neckwarmer_002Now that I’ve given it to her, I can show you the neckwarmer I made for Blog-Free Kim.  I saw similar ones at the Year of the Goat booth in Rhinebeck (right next to the Golding booth), and Melissa generously shared the pattern with me.  The Misti Alpaca was dreamy to knit with, and it seems like BF Kim really likes her new neckwarmer.  If I were to make another, I’d use a less chunky yarn so that I could do more decorative crochet on the edging.  Initially that was the plan, but there wasn’t enough stitch definition to warrant it.

Back in late October I decided to work on Cleaning my Slate for 2008.  I’ve made slow but steady progress and managed to knit a few holiday gifts as well.  I often think of Margene’s distinction of UFOs and WIPs, and as I reassess my project list on Ravelry, I realize that the items still on the needles are all items that I’m enjoying knitting and look forward to using.  I have a few new things I’d like to start soon, but I’ll wait until I finish a bit more of the work on my needles.  Over and over, Margene’s posts remind me to be mindful in my crafting, and I’m grateful for that.  I hope to carry mindfulness into more of my life in the new year and on.

  1. It’s so easy to get caught up in the fun of beginning a project and forget the process of completion. It’s a process to keep focus. You’re doing so well!
